Founder, CEONatural Capital was established by Stephen Cunliffe: a passionate and business-minded conservationist, following his life’s purpose of helping to conserve our planet's rapidly diminishing natural assets. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and an experienced protected area manager and widely published photojournalist, he is driven by a vocation for conservation, ecotourism and environmental sustainability with a fervent desire to see conservation wean itself off donor dependency and its current over-reliance on grant funding by unlocking impact-driven investment and commercial capital into the chronically under-funded and under-resourced conservation space.

Chair of Advisory CouncilBorn with a naturalist’s heart and curiosity, Michael has devoted more than 35 years to guiding safaris across the African continent and beyond. In that time, he has built and led two award-winning travel companies, Passage to Africa and Safaris by Design, and journeyed to landscapes as disparate and remote as the teeming floodplains of Chad and the windswept dunes of the Namib Desert. As a pan-African specialist and a member of the Royal Geographical Society, he brings the same guiding principles of respect, empathy, intuition and understanding to his other passions – photography and conservation. He has worked with numerous conservation organizations, from African Parks to the Ellen Fund and Big Life Foundation, raising awareness and funding to help secure some of the most effective conservation projects on the continent.
